Lost In The Forest.

At 2:00pm on day two of camp in Hanmer, group D did Orienteering.
First, the leader, Heather gave us a map, a compass, a pencil and paper and if we needed it, a stop watch. Next we learnt how to read the map and how to use the compass. We had ninety minutes to find all the markers [controls] and the most points you could get was 600. Unfortunately,my team split up,so it was only me and Rachel. We met Rachel's dad on the way so he came with us right to the end.
When we got back,we found out that we had come 2nd with 520!!!!! WOW!!!!!!! I never thought we would get anywhere near 1st!!!!!!

Hot Pools

On the 2nd day of camp, late in the afternoon at 6:45 pm Rooms 10 and 7 gathered up to go to the hot pools. Everybody was so excited. Then we all  headed down to the pools. Some people ran down with Mr Norton but I didn't run because I was to cold. When we arrived we met up with a life guard who talked to us about safety and were all the pools were. Even though I had a Hydro-slide pass I didn't go it because I wasn't sure what it was like.We were only allowed in the pools that were on the left side of the entrance. I mostly went in the fresh water pool and the hot spas. At 8:45 pm everybody got of the pools and got changed. Then at 9:00 it was time to go back to camp.

Bivoac

On the last day at Hanmer Springs we made the bivouacs.
Logan, Maddison, Moss, and jooyoung, and I, made a bivouac.
First we got two logs, then we found four trees, so we decided to go there.
There was two trees in front and two behind.
We put the logs on the trees one behind and one in front.
We found lots of sticks with leaves on them, and lots and
lots of long sticks.
For our roofing we picked up lots of twigs and long sticks
and also sticks with leaves on them.
We versed other people in our class.
After we made the roofing Mr Norton got a bucket of water and pured it on us we got
a bit wet other people got soaking wet but we only got a bit wet.
It was really fun, i hope we go again...........

Tree Cimbing

On the second Group D, which is my group, did tree climbing.

The first thing we did was to put on a harness and a helmet. Our first activity was lots of fun. We had to build crates on top of each and the highest block tower won.

We divided into two teams. My team won by 1-0 because we got lots of draws. After the activity we started climbing trees.

Stella was the first person to climb up the smaller tree. The some people climbed a higher tree.
I found tree climbing hard but challenging.

At Hanmer  Camp we did Mountain Biking and it was fun.

First we put on a helmet that fitted. Then we all got bikes. Next we got started.

It was really fun I was sweaty

The Building of the Bivouac

On the last day of camp, Wednesday, we set out to the forest.
We did a blind trail, but after we made shelters called 'Bivouacs'.
Mr. Norton gave us 30 minutes to build it.
I paired up with Jessica.

We chose a nice tree to build it on and we set to work.
Jessica found nice, big flax stalks to build it with.

She handed them to me and I put them in place. We made sure to make a hole to get in and stuck
some branches, like a roof.
Just in case,we threw in some flax stalks inside. We waited until Mr. Norton shouted "Okay, times up! Can everybody get in there bivouacs?!"
We squeezed through the hole and covered it with the branches.  We accidently left a hole in the roof and got really wet. We pulled the branches away for the photo.

My Bivouac

When we got to the forest on the last day for the bivouacs, Mr. Norton told us where the boundaries were.
After that he told us GO!!!
We ran to find somewhere to build. We found a excellent place to
build. We started to make our bivouac.
When we finished, Mr. Norton came around with a bucket of water.
I saw it dripping on my head. He said it was only going to be a
dribble. He stuck his hand in the bucket, Then he flicked it
at us. I didn't get wet. YAY!!!!!!

Diamond Smuggling!

On Monday night at 7:00 till 9:00 we went Diamond Smuggling.
Everyone was involved.

We got a Diamond from Mr Norton.
Then we ran through the river. And I fell in!

It was frezzing cold!!!!
I ran past 3 pearents.

Group B won by 2 points.
Then we went back to camp.
I was even more colder!!!!!!

I really enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!

Then we went back on the way back it was all down hill and I kept falling over. It was so so so fun. At the end we walked back to the cars and went back to camp.
