Newsletter Term One Week 9

Dear Parents/Care givers
Hi there and welcome to the second to last week of Term One! Moss and I are at QEII today (Monday) at the Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Championships. Rachel and the Girls' Blue Milo Cricket have made it into the Milo Cup semi-finals on Friday. Well done Rachel and we wish you and the team all the best. A number of the class have made it into the North West Choir, congratulations to you all.

We have a class trip to the Canterbury Museum on Tuesday to participate in the Antarctic Heroes programme. Thanks to the parents who have offered transport. Please meet at Room 7 at 10.30am.

Week Seven
Last week we looked at a DVD called "Endurance" and talked about a Fendalton Hero - Frank Worsley, who was on the Endurance when it went to Antarctica in 1914 and sunk in the ice. Worsley was Shackleton's capatin and navigated the James Caird from Elephant Island to South Georgia Island....ask your child more about it...an amazing story! We also had a visit from an RNZAF Helicopter on Friday, read more of Darkwing, looked into Adverbs and continued looking at famous New Zealanders. We have done lots of training for the cross country, including a "Butterfly" session of speedwork/fartlek running and a two lap time trial.
Week Eight
This week we have Mrs Coats in the class on Monday as I am at QEII with the swimming team. We are looking forward to our trip to the museum on Tuesday. We have a Cross Country practice with the rest of the school on Thursday afternoon and a number of the class are involved in finals of Summer Sports on Friday. Children have to choose their Winter Sport option by Thursday- see:
